College Nurse and Boarding Mistress

Sacred Heart College Gweru has a clinic on site with a qualified nurse to handle minor illnesses. If a student needs further medical attention, the college will refer them to a private hospital after contacting the parents. The school recommends students have medical insurance on file or that parents pre-pay for potential emergencies. The clinic is available 24/7 for student care.

Girls’ Hostel Section

Sacred Heart College Gweru Girls' Hostel is a modern building with two wings for senior and junior students. Each wing has separate sections for different year groups. Rooms are secure and well-maintained with tiled floors, comfortable beds with storage drawers, and shared bathrooms with hot and cold water. The hostel prioritizes safety with fencing, security lights, and planned CCTV installation. Students share rooms with one roommate and have a common room for relaxation and meetings. While laundry services are offered, girls are encouraged to do their own laundry to develop responsibility. A friendly matron and nurse oversee the girls' well-being, offering guidance, managing medication, and even transporting sick students to the hospital. The clean and spacious dining hall provides meals for all students. Regular inspections ensure the girls maintain a clean and responsible environment, preparing them for the future.

Boys’ Hostel Section

Sacred Heart College Gweru boys' hostel has two wings (Eastern and Western) with two sections each. Each section has 14 rooms (cubicles) that house two students each. The rooms come furnished with a bed, desk, chair, locker, and coat hanger. The Eastern wing houses senior students (Forms 3-Upper Six), while the Western wing houses younger students (Forms 1-2). In between the wings is a shared common room with entertainment options (TV with satellite), a hot beverage machine, and space for meetings and roll calls.

Hostel Life

The hostel is the centre of a student’s life. Here, learning continues long after the end of formal classes and extracurricular activities. Not only are there supervised prep sessions six days a week, but also the opportunity to develop character, as the students learn to manage their time and studies, and to live responsibly and respectfully with each other in the college. It is a home away from home for the boys and girls, a place where self-discipline, tolerance, solidarity, loyalty, leadership, and lifelong friendships are cultivated.

Hostel Staff

The boys' hostel at Sacred Heart College Gweru has a boarding master and an assistant who act as live-in house parents for the students. These hostel staff are responsible for the boys' well-being, monitoring their academic progress and personal development. They create a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment and act as mentors and confidantes to the students. They are there to listen, advise, and help the boys adjust to boarding life and take advantage of all the school offers.
